Downtown's most prominent museums honor the legacy of Black dress designer Ann Lowe

Ann Lowe’s path to being a legend began in 1917 when she came to Tampa. When she arrived, she made gowns for local socialite Josephine Lee’s daughters and their friends for Tampa’s Gasparilla Ball. This commission was the catalyst for an incredible career in fashion that would render her a legend! Both the Henry B. Plant Museum and Tampa Bay History Center are home to some of her most legendary designs.
