Considering bike commuting? Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA) offers a “Bike Buddy” program to connect cyclists with similar routes. They back it up with an Emergency Ride Home for peace of mind on a car-free day.

Bike Friendly Tampa

Bicycle Friendly Business is a certification program for companies that demonstrate commitment to promoting and supporting cycling.  This national program is administered through the League of American Cyclists and brought to you by the Tampa Downtown Partnership, the City of Tampa, the Florida Department of Transportation, and Pedal Power Promoters. View the full list of companies that completed the certification. Many offer incentives to customers who arrive on bike! The City of Tampa has been recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community. Tampa is currently #1 in the Nation and the Tampa Downtown Partnership is the City’s only top-level Platinum awardee!

Downtown Bike Routes, Trails, and Bicycle Shops

In 2016, the City of Tampa was nationally recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community. It was ranked as one of the Top 50 Best Biking Cities by Bicycling Magazine. Further, PeopleForBikes named the Cass St. Green Spine separated path among the 10 best new bike lanes in the nation.

There are numerous Tampa cycling lanes, bike trails, bike racks and shower/locker facilities scattered throughout the downtown area. A map of Hillsborough County trails can be found here.

Check out the shaded Selmon Greenway connection with a stroll along the fabulous Tampa Riverwalk. Be sure to lock your bike and always wear a helmet. All buses and trolleys are equipped to carry along 2 bikes.

Combining Fitness with Culture & Community

Join us on one of our free guided walking tours, occurring twice a month, to various areas in downtown featuring public art, architecture, and history. Guest Tour Guides help bring the theme alive and local businesses are highlighted along the way. Walk season runs October – May the 1st and 3rd Friday from 12-1pm.

Bike Parking

The Tampa Downtown Partnership has added bike parking in all public City garages, medallions on meter posts, free-standing racks and six self-repair stations. Total places to park your bike totals over 300!
