Walk Tampa: Tampa Bay Black History

Led by noted local historian Fred Hearns, you’ll tour “the Harlem of the South,” Tampa’s Central Avenue district. Learn about life in Tampa’s African-American community, from the 1890s through the late 1960s. This outdoor trek begins at the new Robert Saunders Public Library and explores the social, political, musical and religious traditions of Tampa’s Black life in Tampa. Tampa Pig Jig 2017

Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
This annual fundraiser hosted on downtown Tampa’s beautiful waterfront features live music, great food, a BBQ competition, drinks, and games. The event benefits the NephCure Kidney International. An Eerie Evening at the Tampa Bay Hotel

See the Museum in moonlight as you’ve never seen it before and hear creepy tales from days long past. Victorian mourning and funeral customs come to life as eerie entities roam the halls. Period lighting and candles set the stage for true stories of death, homesick soldiers, and poisons. Spirits of the Bay: An Evening of Live Storytelling

Tampa’s grande dame of ghosts, local author and storyteller Deborah Frethem, takes to the Theatre’s historic stage for an intimate evening of ghost stories and supernatural tales from around the Bay area. Following the performance, Frethem will sign copies of her books, including Haunted Ybor City, Ghost Stories of St. Petersburg and Haunted Tampa: Spirits of the Bay, with sales benefiting Tampa Theatre’s preservation and restoration efforts.
