Join us for the next installment of the Tampa Downtown Partnership’s Downtown Debriefing series at the Hyatt Place Hyatt House Tampa Downtown on Tuesday, May 24th. We will hear from a few of the Tampa Bay region’s newest leaders: Bemetra Simmons, President & CEO of the Tampa Bay Partnership, Greg Slater, Executive Director/CEO of Tampa-Hillsborough Expressway Authority, and Michael Maurino, Executive Director of the Westshore Alliance.

Mayor Castor to host annual State of the City

Mayor Jane Castor will host the annual State of the City on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 9am at the Tampa Convention Center, Ballroom C. Each year Mayor Castor addresses the city of Tampa, highlighting some of her administration’s key accomplishments and initiatives.

 

The event will be streamed live on the City of Tampa Facebook Page. This event is open to the public. Those who would like to attend are asked to RSVP at tampa.gov/rsvp.

Hilton Tampa Downtown emerges from multimillion-dollar transformation

The 520-key Hilton Tampa Downtown has now completed its multi-year, multimillion-dollar renovation designed to enhance the guest experience with sophisticated design.

 

The hotel’s new look spans reimagined guest rooms and suites, public spaces, the lobby and restaurant.

City of Tampa invites residents to participate in twice-a-decade tree study

Tampa residents are being asked to participate in a confidential survey to find out how residents care for and experience trees in one of the world’s largest urban forests.

 

“We are interested in what you think about the trees in your neighborhood and the city of Tampa’s plans to maintain trees across the area,” said Rebecca Zarger, a University of South Florida faculty member in the Department of Anthropology. “Participating in our tree survey means your experiences will inform future plans for our urban forest.”

Street-legal Zamboni is like an Uber for Bolts fans on game days

Headed to a Tampa Bay Lightning playoff game? Ride in style through Tampa’s Downtown on Tampa Bay Ice Box‘s street-legal Zamboni!

 

The Tampa Bay Ice Box picks up fans about an hour and a half before a home game, starting at the Pour House at Grand Central on Kennedy Boulevard. They make their way along Morgan Street. If they’re full, they drop off the fans at Amalie Arena.

Tampa exploring new street grids for northern end of Tampa's Downtown

Potential plans for the north end of Tampa’s Downtown will be discussed at the Mayors’ Institute on City Design, a summit that Mayor Jane Castor will attend May 18-20 in Charleston, South Carolina. The other seven mayors in attendance, as well as eight design and development professionals, will offer their feedback.

 

In the plans, new blocks would be created by installing new intersections at Harrison and Fortune streets. Travel lanes would be narrowed to reduce vehicular speeds. On-street parking and wide sidewalks would be part of the new street design.
