Tampa Theatre and Oxford Exchange, in conjunction with the City of Tampa and the Tampa Downtown Partnership, are excited to welcome one of the world’s foremost authorities on transportation and urban transformation, Janette Sadik-Khan, to the Theatre’s historic stage at 6:30pm on Tuesday, June 7.
Sadik-Khan served as New York City’s transportation commissioner from 2007 to 2013 under Mayor Michael Bloomberg, overseeing historic changes to the city’s streets, including pedestrianizing Broadway in Times Square, building nearly 400 miles of bike lanes, seven rapid bus lines, and creating more than 60 plazas citywide.

“We’ve wanted to invest in Tampa for quite some time,” Jeff Moallem, president and CEO of Gazit Horizons Inc. told the Tampa Bay Business Journal. “It’s the business case for Tampa as a city that will grow over the next 25 to 30 years, in terms of job creation, the airport, food, culture, the weather, health care — all things people look for when they look to relocate their business.”
The tower will have 334 units and 13,688 square feet of street-level retail space and 514 parking spaces in a structure above the shops.
The new location, 802 N 12th Street, includes a microbrewery and a whiskey tasting room with the same layout and the original green door from the Platt Street pub. A life-size mural has been painted outside to make it look like customers are walking into the original bar.
