Gasparilla is back! Here's your guide to all of the festivities Downtown!

Gasparilla Pirate Fest returns to Tampa on January 29. The wild event features pirates, parades, great food, and a full takeover of the city of Tampa.

 

To celebrate their capture of the City of Tampa, the Captain and his Krewe share their wealth – glittering beads, treasures and doubloons – with a lively, enthusiastic crowd all along the 4.5 -mile parade route on January 29 from 2-6pm.

Water Street Tampa’s Phase 1 is almost done. Here’s what Phase 2 holds

With restaurants, homes, and hotels opening soon, developers will start expanding Water Street’s footprint in 2022.

 

“By April, with residents in all three towers, guests in three hotels, and at least some office workers, the district — and Phase 1 — will feel essentially complete. At the basic level, it means we’ve finished building the critical density that we set out to do, which is a wide range of mix of uses supported by vibrant ground-floor retail space,” Brad Cooke, vice president with Strategic Property Partners said. “For the people that visit, I think we’re starting to see it already, which is exciting, to prove that this really will be a vibrant urban experience that hasn’t really been seen before in Tampa.”

City of Tampa hires former Lakeland deputy city manager as new economic development administrator

Nicole B. Travis, a deputy city manager in Lakeland who also served as director of economic development, will begin her new job on January 24 as Carole Post, the current administrator of development and economic opportunity, prepares to return to the University of South Florida.
