Demetri Martin Comedy 11 April Comedian Demetri Martin may be best known for his stand-up work, but he’s also a screenwriter/director/actor (2016’s Dean), an essayist (This Is a Book) and a cartoonist (collected in the books Point Your Face at This and If It’s Not Funny It’s Art). Chris Tucker at Straz Center for the Performing Arts Comedy 23 April Chris Tucker’s breakthrough as a stand-up comedian on Def Comedy Jam back in 1992 led to a steady string of movie roles in “Friday,” “Dead Presidents” and “Jackie Brown,” among others. His commercial peak came with 1998’s “Rush Hour” and its two sequels, which paired Tucker and Jackie Chan as mismatched buddy cops. In recent years he’s focused more on stand-up, and his upcoming tour will bring him to Tampa. Straz Center for the Performing Arts
