Members Exclusive: Gallery Open House and Florida Conversations

Join us for a special reception for members and friends celebrating the newest temporary exhibition, America at the Crossroads: The Guitar and a Changing Nation. Guests are also invited to explore two newly opened exhibitions: The Sport of Kings and Queens and Tampa Bay Timeline. After the reception and gallery time, stay for Florida Conversations: Beats of the Bay, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Music has long been part of Tampa’s heartbeat. This panel brings together voices from the community to reflect on the people, places, and sounds that have shaped Tampa’s musical story and continue to inspire it today.

Thursday Night Ceramics

Work with clay on the potters' wheel and learn how to hand-build. Beginners start with a hand-building project to get acquainted with the clay and then jump into learning how to create their next ceramic adventure. Intermediate students can dive right into getting dirty and take inspiration from instructor-led projects. All experience levels are welcome!

Darci Lynne & Friends at Straz Center for the Performing Arts

Darci Lynne shines with an all new production in her upcoming tour featuring popular puppet characters Petunia the Bunny, Oscar the Motown Mouse, Sassy Senior Citizen and Edna Door Knocker, plus a few new surprises. Throughout the show, Darci and her characters invite a few volunteers from the audience to be a part of the show for some hilarious laughs!

Astor Piazzolla was the undisputed master of nuevo tango. His bold arrangements and forward-looking compositions brought new audiences to tango, particularly when his 1986 album, Tango: Zero Hour, became a surprise hit. Quinteto Astor Piazzolla carries on the legacy of the maestro, who passed in 1992. Formed in 1998, Quinteto Asto Piazzolla explore their namesake’s vast repertoire, keeping Piazzolla’s fiery and innovative music alive for new generations.

Spring Break: Guitar Lab

Strum, make and explore in this hands-on family program inspired by “America at the Crossroads: The Guitar and a Changing Nation.” Stop by the guitar meet-and-greet to handle picks and strings and try out real electric and acoustic guitars. Then make a guitar pick necklace to take home, with curated music samples playing throughout the experience.

Central Park Jazz Jam

Let the good times roll at Central Park Jazz Jam! This FREE community event celebrates the musical history of Downtown Tampa’s Central Park neighborhood. Enjoy LIVE performances from local bands and musicians, along with family-friendly fun from the YMCA. Bring a chair (and your dancing shoes!) as we fill the courtyard of the Tampa Black History Museum with encore-worthy music and community vibes. So let’s get jazzy and swing it like you mean it… this jam is sure to end your evening on a high note!

Gasparilla Music Festival 2026

10 - 12 April
The 2026 Gasparilla Music Festival, presented by Water Street Tampa, returns April 10–12 at its new downtown home, Meridian Fields. Headliners Mt. Joy (Friday), Two Friends (Saturday), and Gov’t Mule (Sunday) lead a stacked lineup of 30+ artists, including Shakey Graves, Jai Wolf, Drive-By Truckers, Bryce Vine, and GZA.
