Wild Nights With Emily (2019)

A well-researched dissection of the long-standing myth that Emily Dickinson was a sexless and melancholic recluse. The film asserts that Dickinson actually had a loving relationship with her sister-in-law. Much of the humor of the film comes from the tension of what we see happening and what the narrator tells her audience. An irreverent, winking comedy about the way society will create its own secrets, the film offers joy and companionship to a figure whose history was more conveniently presented to generations of readers as lonely. Step back in time and enjoy the single-character performances that bring turn-of-the-century Tampa Bay Hotel staff members and guests to life. Each character is based on actual hotel staff and guests.
