Tampa’s Downtown could soon welcome a major new destination for live entertainment and nightlife. Strategic Property Partners recently shared plans for the next phase of Water Street, featuring a large-scale expansion centered around music, hospitality, dining, and public gathering spaces.
The proposal includes a mid-sized concert and event venue capable of hosting up to 3,500 guests, along with a new hotel, expanded restaurant and retail offerings, and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces expanding activation and vibrancy in the neighborhood. SPP says construction is expected to begin in early 2027.
As National Bike Month comes to a close, we’d like to congratulate Downtown’s newest certified Bicycle Friendly Businesses: Tampa Marriott Water Street and JW Marriott Tampa Water Street. The designation highlights each property’s commitment to supporting alternative transportation options and creating a more bike-friendly Downtown experience for residents, visitors, and employees alike.
The JW Marriott Tampa Water Street also offers complimentary bicycle valet services, helping make cycling more accessible and convenient. Tampa Downtown Partnership Transportation Director Karen Kress recently helped lead the hotel’s associate Urban Group Ride, further encouraging active transportation and community engagement.
If you are a business interested in pursuing Bicycle Friendly Business certification, make sure you reach out to our Urban Planning Coordinator, Zeina Kamal, at zkamal@tampasdowntown.com for application support!
A new adventure is officially underway in Tampa’s Downtown. Launched earlier this month by The Tampa Heights Civic Association, the free, year-round pirate-themed scavenger hunt invites residents and visitors to explore Downtown while searching for José Gaspar’s hidden treasure.
Funded through a placemaking grant provided by the Tampa Downtown Partnership, the initiative features small pirate chests hidden throughout 12 participating local businesses and attractions, creating a fun and interactive way to discover the city’s unique destinations and support local establishments along the way.
Whether you’re a longtime local or visiting Downtown for the first time, the treasure hunt is a creative new way to discover Tampa year-round!
