DOWNTOWN TAMPA Shaun Drinkard
Senior Director of Public Programming and Operations
Shaun Drinkard serves as the Senior Director of Public Programming and Operations with the Tampa Downtown Partnership. Shaun leads district operations which include the Downtown Guides and Clean Team program as well as all public programming within the Special Services District (SSD). Previously as the Director of Placemaking with the Partnership since 2010, Shaun takes a multi-faceted approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces. Helping visions evolve quickly into implementation strategies, Shaun begins with small-scale, do-able improvements that can immediately benefit public spaces and the people who use them. He has been instrumental in bringing monthly and annual programs to Downtown Tampa including Rock the Park, a free monthly music series, and Winter Village, an eight week holiday experience featuring waterfront dining, ice skating, and holiday shops in Tampa’s Downtown.
In addition to his role as the Director of Placemaking, Shaun also served as the Executive Director with the Friends of the Riverwalk, Inc. from 2013 to 2017. During this time, his position with Friends of the Riverwalk involved all aspects of non-profit management including implementing a new membership program, refining public programming, and a number of opportunities to bring additional foot traffic to all areas of the downtown waterfront.
Prior to his current position, Shaun worked for WilsonMiller Stantec in the field of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design. While at WilsonMiller Stantec he worked as part of the design team for projects including: Channel District Strategic Action & Implementation Plans (Tampa, FL), award winning Washington Street Park (Channel District, Tampa, FL), and Albert Whitted Waterfront Park (St. Petersburg, FL).
Shaun received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Louisiana State University in 2004. In 2017 he was selected as one of the industry’s brightest professionals by the International Downtown Association to participate in their prestigious Emerging Leaders Fellowship Program. He stays involved in the local community by serving on the Board of Directors for the Gasparilla Festival of the Arts where he served as the2013 Festival President.
