2010 / 2011 Chairman
William "Bill" A. Gillen Jr.
Shook, Hardy & Bacon, LLP
Mr. Gillen joined the Tampa Downtown Partnership in 1994 and has been instrumental in various Partnership strategic initiatives such as the organization’s involvement in the attraction of major venues to the downtown area. Mr. Gillen was asked to join the board of directors in 1995 and was later brought onto the executive committee. He has chaired the residential advisory council and the residential committee for the past two years.
Mr. Gillen is a practicing attorney with Shook, Hardy & Bacon, LLP where he is a trial lawyer focusing on toxic tort, products liability and environmental law matters.

He has also handled medical malpractice, construction, casualty, and commercial litigation cases. Mr. Gillen was included in Florida Super Lawyers 2010. Before entering private practice, Mr. Gillen served as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1969 to 1972.
In addition to his involvement with the Tampa Downtown Partnership, Mr. Gillen has served in leadership roles with the Rotary Club of Tampa; Hillsborough Bar Association; Gulf Ridge Council of the Boy Scouts of America; United Way of Hillsborough County; Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay and the University Club of Tampa.
Mr. Gillen graduated with an undergraduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta, GA and then went on to attend law school at Florida State University. Mr. Gillen is a sought-after public speaker and accomplished author on a variety of topics relating to his expertise in the various fields of law in which he practices.

Christine M. Burdick
Tampa Downtown Partnership
Christine Burdick was chosen as the president of the Tampa Downtown Partnership in April 2002. Prior to moving to Tampa, she worked for Mayor Daley, helping to revitalize downtown Chicago, and in Miami Beach, directing the regeneration of Lincoln Road.
With more than 30 years experience in retailing and urban development, she and the Partnerships leadership are working to further develop the sense of community in downtown Tampa and bring exciting new projects to the area. Since 2004, downtown Tampa has experienced more than $1 billion in private and public investment, with expectations of continued infrastructure and other capital investment in the next two years.

Burdick is a member of the International Economic Development Council, the Urban Land Institute, the International Downtown Association, and the Interational Council of Shopping Centers. Locally, she is a trustee of the University of Tampa, board of directors members of The Florida Aquarium, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, and Tampa Bay & Co., and she serves on the executive commitee of the Homesless Coalition of Hillsborough County.
