Holiday skating rink returns to downtown Tampa

– Tampa’s Curtis Hixon Park has once again been transformed into a riverside winter village. There will be a holiday market and a waterfront cafe, plus the city’s only outdoor ice rink has been set up.

The popular skating rink opens Friday. Skates are available to rent, and yes, it’s real ice.

“We have professionals that do these rinks all over the world come down here and build this rink,” explained Shaun Drinkard of the Tampa Downtown Partnership. “We keep it running for about 50 days – November 17 through January 5.”
