Kenney Martin serves as the Placemaking Specialist at Tampa Downtown Partnership, where he helps create memorable experiences that bring people together and activate Downtown Tampa’s public spaces. From community markets and family-friendly events to concerts and festivals, Kenney is passionate about creating vibrant experiences that foster connection, support local businesses, and showcase everything Downtown has to offer.

Having grown up in Tampa and called the city home for more than 21 years, Downtown has always been a place where he could explore, connect, and experience something new. Whether attending community events, walking the Riverwalk, or discovering local businesses, those experiences inspired his passion for creating spaces where others can build memories of their own.

With a background in event operations, community programming, and psychology, Kenney brings a people-first approach to placemaking. He believes that great events do more than entertain—they create opportunities for neighbors, visitors, artists, and local businesses to connect while strengthening the community. Whether coordinating vendors, managing event logistics, or collaborating with community partners, he enjoys turning ideas into experiences that leave a lasting impact.

Before joining the Partnership, Kenney coordinated community programs and supported the execution of large-scale live events, including concerts with more than 20,000 attendees. His professional experience also includes working as a child therapist, where he developed a strong foundation in communication, empathy, and problem-solving—skills that continue to shape his approach to community engagement and event management. Kenney earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, where he developed a deeper understanding of human behavior and community connection. He also enjoys photography, videography, and creating digital content that highlights the people and places that make a community unique.
