We’ve all seen it online – the photo of the great white shark tailing a yellow kayak on a clear blue open sea, the man inside the boat looking tentatively over his shoulder at the dorsal fin. That’s a Thomas Peschak picture. From this one photograph, he launched a viral sensation that has lasted more than ten years, his trademark style of capturing images so iconic, so magnetic, so atypical that his photographs are instantly recognizable. As a National Geographic photographer and explorer, Thomas spends up to 300 days per year surrounded by ocean, shooting powerful conservation stories where the animals in his photographs become their own best advocates.
