One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to Moffitt Cancer Center, specifically this year as part of a $1 million pledge toward a brachytherapy suite there. The brachytherapy procedure, which uses more targeted internal radiation instead of external radiation, is highly effective, on multiple cancer types, produces fewer side effects and offers faster recovery times than other treatments.
From the first five years of this event, the Gonzmart Family Foundation has donated $460,000 to Moffitt. It’s one of several charitable activities created by Richard Gonzmart, fourth-generation “caretaker” of the Columbia Restaurant Group.
The course is out and back on the Riverwalk, starting and ending at the Ulele restaurant at 1810 N. Highland Ave, near downtown Tampa. Designated parking is nearby.
Registration is $25 in advance and $30 day of, with bib pickup starting at 7 a.m. at the restaurant on June 16.
