At the May 23 program, two of the biggest and most exciting stories having a positive impact on the Tampa Bay area come together in a single must-attend event.
In 2010, when Jeff Vinik became owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning, his goal was to transform an up-and-down franchise into a world-class organization. In 2016 the world discovered what locals already knew when ESPN ranked the Lightning as the best franchise out of all 122 teams across the four major U.S. sports leagues in its Ultimate Standings. An extraordinary achievement, but only part of the overall story taking place in Tampa under Mr. Vinik’s leadership. With his Strategic Property Partners group, supported by a $3 billion investment, he and his team are leading an effort to transform 53 acres of downtown Tampa’s urban core into one of America’s most modern, walkable, and friendly corridors for working, living, educating and entertaining.
To share insights into these developments – and how strong and proactive communications, community affairs and customer relations play a key role in their success — the program will feature Jim Shimberg, a former attorney for the city of Tampa and long-time business and community leader and philanthropist who has served since April 2013 as executive vice president and general counsel of Tampa Bay Sports and Entertainment, parent company of the Lightning, Tampa Bay Storm arena football team and Amalie Arena.
To make your day even more special, the presentation will be followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of the arena, which since 2011 has enjoyed more than $90 million in renovations. You’ll want to register quickly for this program, as reservations will go fast.
