Event Details
The high seas and Wild West meet in NGB Artistic Director Philip Neal’s daring new production, a partial staging of Petipa’s Le Corsaire paired with Balanchine’s Western Symphony. Constructed as a suite of dances highlighting the exotic, high-stakes plot and gorgeous music, Le Corsaire (The Pirate) features brilliant dancing and a Gasparilla-worthy pirate crew. Western Symphony outfits NGB’s exuberant dancers as cowboys and dance-hall girls in this landmark Balanchine “old west” ballet. Songs include “Red River Valley,” “Good Night Ladies” and “Rye Whiskey.”
