In celebration of Black History Month, delve into the history of fashion, race, and design with “Dressing the Best: The Story of Ann Lowe, America’s First African American Fashion Designer,” a lecture by Margaret Powell. The Henry B. Plant Museum is proud to be featuring three dresses deigned by Lowe in the exhibit Gasparilla: A Tampa Tradition. Each of the gowns is rare and unique featuring elaborate beaded designs. Hear about Lowe’s history, her inspirations, and her iconic style. This lecture has been generously underwritten by the Henry B. Plant Museum Society, Inc.
