The Henry B. Plant Museum is pleased to announce the inaugural Children’s Day at the Victorian Christmas Stroll on December 17th. This special day is filled with activities designed for the whole family to enjoy.
The Victorian Christmas Stroll celebrates the warmth and spirit of an old fashioned holiday, while encouraging a sense of community. Children and families will delight in activities ranging from paper crafts to a puppet show. The Museum is proud to be working with community partners The Paper Seahorse and Bits ‘N Pieces Puppet Theatre. Local authors will be doing readings in the Plant Hall Music Room, and kids of all ages can try their hand at paper airplane flying.
While exploring the Museum, there is sure to be something for everyone. We are proud to offer an interactive sensory tree activity for visitors with sensory disabilities. Look closely in exhibit cases and you will find tiny antique trees as small as 1” in height. Gaze in wonder at antique ornaments and colorful nutcrackers in an old-fashioned Christmas scene. Other decorations include a replica Plant System train, vintage fashions, antique toys, locally sourced items, and fanciful ornaments.
Events and activities during Children’s Day at the Victorian Christmas Stroll include:
- Bits ‘N Pieces Puppet Theatre, 3pm
- The Paper Seahorse paper-crafting, 11am – 1pm
- Robin Gonzalez, local author
- Selena Schulz, local youth author, age 11, 12:15-1pm
- Classic Reflections Carriage rides, 4pm – 7pm, $6 per person, outside Museum
