Tampa Downtown Partnership Downtown Security Network - H1N1 Flu Information Update for December, 11 2009
As of Wednesday, December 9, more than 218,500 doses have been distributed throughout Hillsborough County. More than 102,000 doses have been provided to private medical providers, 38,000 doses have gone to hospitals and universities, 37,500 doses have been provided to daycare and school aged children through the school vaccination program, 24,500 doses have been provided to walk-in clinics, and 16,500 doses have gone to internal HCHD patients and staff.
The H1N1 vaccine is now available through local pharmacy clinics such as Walgreens Take Care Clinic and CVS Minute Clinic. Check with your area locations because not all locations are offering the vaccination. The vaccine will also be available at the Hillsborough County Health Department clinics beginning Monday, December 14. For clinic locations and hours please

Providers in the county that wishes to offer the vaccine to their staff and/or patients is able to do so through the Florida Shots Program. All providers that sign up for Florida Shots and place orders for the vaccine will receive an allocation at some point between now and January 2010. The amount they receive and the time frame for which they receive an allocation are based on vaccine availability. 2009 H1N1 Vaccine.
- If a child under 10 years old has received the first dose of 2009 H1N1 vaccine, it may be time for the second dose. If so, parents are now encouraged to seek the second dose of 2009 H1N1 vaccine for their children who are younger than 10 years old. The recommended interval between the first and second dose should be at least 28 days, however, a second dose given at least 21 days after the first is considered valid.
