Downtown Tampa Pedestrian Safety

WalkWise/BikeSmart is a grassroots effort to provide pedestrian and bicycle safety education and resources to downtown and the Tampa Bay community. In 2008, 11.1% of pedestrians and 17.4% of bicyclists killed in the U.S. died in Florida, which has 6% of the nation's population.  Raising awareness about this important issue is the first step.  The Tampa Downtown Partnership has partnered with FDOT to deliver a free Pedestrian Safety Presentation for your business, association, church, school or group.  Each attendee will receive a WalkWise/BikeSmart Tampa Bay reflective bag after the presentation and be named to our growing list of WalkWise Ambassadors. Six engaging 1-2-mile self-guided downtown Tampa walking routes feature downtown's  public art, architecture, history and legends. Or join us on one of our free twice monthly guided walking tours to various areas in downtown. Guest Tour Guides help bring the theme alive and local businesses are highlighted along the way. Walk season runs October - May.

Downtown Tampa Bike Routes, Trails, & Bicycle Shops There are numerous Tampa cycling lanes, bike trails, bike racks and shower/locker facilities scattered throughout the downtown area.  Be sure to lock your bike and always wear a helmet.
